WRITING @ CASE

History and Introduction to Writing@Case

Professor Kim Emmons, Director of Composition from 2004-2006, developed the initial versions of the Writing@Case site. Below is the original introduction to the site:

In the spring semester of 2005, I was asked to create a "survival guide" for Case faculty teaching writing, especially in SAGES. This website is a response to that request. I view it as a scrapbook of suggestions, wisdom, and useful resources for anyone interested in teaching writing at the college level. It is not a definitive guide; I trust that it will grow as faculty members continue to contribute their experiences. The links to the left lead to information, sample handouts, and assignments in various broad topic areas within writing instruction. The “Other Resources” link will take you to an alphabetical list of materials available on the site.

Members of the Case community have generously donated much of the information contained on these pages. I am particularly indebted to my colleagues in the English department, to Arthur Evenchik, and to the exceptionally hard-working Case faculty and graduate instructors who have committed their time and expertise to teaching writing at Case. I welcome feedback, suggestions, and, most of all, additional materials - please email writing@case.edu with your thoughts.
