Do you have the "write" stuff? Here's your chance to show off your writing at this exciting Writing Week event! Students will compete to be Case's first ever Writing Idol by reading just a short selection from their best critical or creative essays in front of our panel of expert judges. The contest will also consist of other writing rounds, where improvisation in writing is key. The winner takes home a new iPod Nano, and the runners up and audience members receive great prizes too. Start preparing your best work today! Refreshments will be served.

Where: 104 Bellflower Hall (The WRC Library)

When: 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

FAQ:

Q. What do I need to bring?
A. Just a short excerpt from one of your favorite pieces of writing. Do you have an academic paper for a class that you'd like to share? How about a creative piece? Now is your chance to show off your best work!

Q. Do I need to compete to attend?

A. Not at all -- after all, everyone's a critic, and we need audience members to vote! Come to have fun and support your friends. (One lucky audience member also receives a prize.)

Q. Is this a writing workshop?

A. Again - not at all - this is a writing contest with plenty of games, sugary treats, and prizes (did we mention the IPOD?)!

Q. How can I tell my friends about this event?

A. Glad you asked! We're on Facebook and you can search for us, provide your RSVP, and invite others. While you're at it, why not join the Case Western Reserve University WRC group, too?!

Q. Who are these expert judges anyway?

A. Our judges are writing faculty familiar with both creative and critical works as well as a SAGES peer crew member. But remember, audience members have the final say!
