Program Schedule: Week Two

Day 8
Florence of the North: Italian influence in Munich. Zucalli's Theatinerkirche. And, of course, Sarcletti's, arguably the best Italian ice cream north of Florence.

Day 9
French Influence: Cuvilliés Theater, Munich's rococo jewel, and the royal Nymphenburg Palace with its magnificent park and hidden summer palaces.

Day 10
Athens on the Isar: King Ludwig I's neoclassical dreams. Königsplatz, Ludwigstrasse, and the National Theater. Guided tour through the Munich State Opera with a special tour backstage.                  

 Day 11
Walking Through the Centuries: Visit to the Royal Residency and the Crown Jewels. A review of Munich's history as reflected in its topography.

Day 12
How to Make a Violin Sing: Visit to Mittenwald, the historic center of violin-building in the Bavarian Alps, and the workshop of Josef Kantuscher, one of the best violin makers in Germany.

Days 13/14
Weekend Options:Stay right where you are and spend the weekend in Garmisch-Partenkirchen's youth hostel at the foot of the highest mountain in Germany! Ride up to the Zugspitze and try to see the Mediterranean!
