Italian gardeners and stonecutters immigrated to Cleveland to gain employment at the cemetery. Most settled close to the cemetery and the Little Italy neighborhood they formed still exists today.

Why the name Lake View?
Even though the cemetery is 6 miles inland, there are spectacular views of Lake Erie, one of the five Great Lakes. Two small lakes are also located on the grounds.
