Office of Urban Health and the Urban Area Health Education Center NetWellness
The Office of Urban Health and the Urban Area Health Education Center (http://casemed.case.edu/urbanhealth/) is a single office uniquely positioned within Case Western Reserve University to engage in health and human service initiatives, health communications, and health improvement in the urban community.
Our mission is to connect the resources of Case with the health needs of the community, and to enrich the Case environment through community partnerships
Our programs include:
Office of Urban Health – The Office of Urban Health strives to enhance community health services, medical education and research, and health promotion and disease prevention efforts in the Greater Cleveland urban communities. Additionally, OUH fosters new programs and creativity by supporting students and faculty involvement or creation of projects that focus on improving the health status of residents in urban neighborhoods.
Urban Area Health Education Center – The Urban Area Health Education Center is part of a statewide network offering training for medical students and health-care providers in underserved areas. Case's programs focus on Cleveland's inner city and East Cleveland: first-year and second-year medical students help public school students learn good health habits and third and fourth-year medical students work in affiliated health centers and primary care clinics of local hospitals.
NetWellness – An on-line medical resource (http://netwellness.org), NetWellness is a collaboration between medical schools at Case, The Ohio State University, and the University of Cincinnati providing state-of-the-art health information directly from university experts to the public. It is available in over 680 libraries and 4600 schools throughout the state. NetWellness is a valuable resource for community agencies and those they serve.
Women's Health Month – With funding from the Ohio Department of Health, Women's Heath Month supports community agencies to conduct women's health programs in a range of subjects.
