Sleep and Health is an NIH-funded
collaboration between the Health Museum of Cleveland,
the Cleveland Municipal School District, the Alliance
City Schools, the Brooklyn Schools, and the Center for
Sleep Disorders Research at Case. The focus of the
collaboration is to raise the awareness of healthy sleep
habits. To achieve that goal, materials are being
developed for primary and elementary school children
illustrating the hazards of too little sleep and the
benefits of sufficient sleep. For older children, the
connection between proper sleep habits and safe driving
will be emphasized. School nurses, teachers, and
administrators will be trained to identify and deal with
the signs of sleepiness.
