Access/TRIO Programs: Upward Bound and Talent Search

Upward Bound Special Program for Pre-professional Students in the Health Services (SPPSHS) is the oldest of the existing minority programs at CASE. Established in 1966, the program is designed to prepare low-income and potential first-generation college students for successful postsecondary studies directed toward professional careers. High school students, grades nine through twelve, attending Cleveland and East Cleveland public schools are eligible for participation in the program. The program includes intensive instruction in all levels of mathematics, the natural sciences, foreign languages, and English/literature. The program is year-round and includes a six-week summer residential component which serves 60 students and a well developed academic year component which serves 110 students.

The Talent Search Program at Case is an educational program designed to encourage youth, grades 6 through 12 attending schools in the East Cleveland City School District to successfully complete secondary education and successfully enroll into a postsecondary institution.
