Project Lead the Way

Ohio is proud to be part of the newest Project Lead The Way (PLTW) initiative -- to develop a biomedical science career pathway as part of a national movement to promote students entering the field. The Project Lead the Way® Biomedical Sciences™ program is a dynamic high school curriculum that uses hands-on, real-world problems to engage and challenge students.
Students interested in math, science, and the human body will find the PLTW Biomedical Sciences™ program a great introduction to the numerous medical fields. It will also teach them how the skills they learn are used in the biomedical sciences.

The Biomedical curriculum is being piloted one course per year in Ohio in a limited rollout. Additional schools will be added as biomedical sites when sufficient master teachers are trained to handle the demand.
Through a grant to Sinclair Community College, the Center for Science and Mathematics Education is partnering with universities around the state to establish a set of regional professional development sites to support the expansion of the Biomedical Sciences curriculum in Ohio.
