He received a B.A. in Classical Studies from Michigan State University and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Classical Studies from The Ohio State University. He teaches a wide variety of undergraduate courses, including for the SAGES program. His research interests and publications are in the areas of Greek and Roman New Comedy, Hellenistic Culture & Society, and Greek Epigraphy. His work on the latter area was primarily as a Long-Term Contributor (1990-2005) to the Packard Humanities Institute Greek Epigraphy Project, a database of Ancient Greek inscriptions which may now be accessed at: http://epigraphy.packhum.org/inscriptions/. He is currently working on a book entitled Tragoidizing Life: Menander and the Subversion of Tragedy.
