Curriculum Vitae (PDF)

Research in the Gray Group at Case Western Reserve University focuses on the unique properties of transition-element clusters, and on the opportunities they convey for groundbreaking science. The way forward in cluster research lies with better syntheses of bigger clusters, and inevitably, an interface with nanoscience develops. It is here that we concentrate our efforts. Active investigations include developing a new series of luminescence bioimaging agents based on light-emitting clusters; cancer treatment with new photodynamic therapy mediators; and a new class of nanorods, all of uniform diameter, from extended polymeric clusters. The possibilities that metal clusters offer for nanoscience are compelling, and motivated undergraduate- and graduate researchers are always invited.
