Academic Service and Outreach
- Chemistry Instructor for Cleveland High-School teachers for the NSF-Math & Science Partnership Program, including course evaluation and summer school in July 2003.
- Dr. Burda is currently teaching and advising high-school teachers in the Cleveland municipality. A comprehensive plan to improve the educational situation for children in the downtown area is being set up and new approaches are brought into Cleveland's classrooms.
- Co-Organization Meeting and Expansion of the Ohio Photochemistry Society.
- Regular meetings of photochemists in the Ohio region are being planned and held since 2001.
- Co-Organization of an IUPAC Workshop of Advanced Materials, 1999 in Hong Kong.
- Director of the “Center for Chemical Dynamics” at the Case Western Reserve University.
- Member of the Undergraduate Committee, outreach partner for the local NASA Outreach Programs and the Society for Applied Spectroscopy. Besides teaching children in typical classroom settings, we go out and entertain kids with shows centered around nanoscience, spectroscopy, and other fascinating topics.
- Mentor to undergraduate students
