In Memory of Dee D'Angelo

Heather Watrob & Dee   8-6-02

Dolores D'Angelo, or Dee to her friends, first came to Case Western Reserve University and the Department of Chemistry in 1967. She was here for the merger between Western Reserve and Case, and throughout her years more than 6 different university presidents. Dee's interaction with the young graduate students and research associates and her love for the University was the strongest reason for continuing to keep working. She had been determined to work 40 years before retiring, a goal Dee had set for herself many years ago.

Dee had many interests outside the University, for instance, she regularly attended professional ice skating events, went to basketball venues, and once every Fall, a Notre Dame football game in Indiana. Dee's knowledge of Cleveland area restaurants was superb, given that every Wednesday she and her friends would dine at a different establishment. Dee regularly attended meetings of the Blue Rock Society, an organization founded of members in her old Italian neighborhood that no longer exists in Cleveland. Dee's belief in her faith and her strong family commitments were evident in her daily life. She was a beautiful person, great co-worker, and dear friend who will be missed by all in the Department of Chemistry and Case Western Reserve University.
