Research Interests

Dr. Ana B. Locci is Director of The University Farm: Squire Valleevue and Valley Ridge Farms and Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology. Dr. Locci conducted work for her Master's degree in biology at the Farm from 1982 to 1985, and received her M.S. from CWRU in 1985. She received her Ph.D. in Biology from CWRU in 1988.

The University Farm is a 386-acre teaching, research, and recreation facility located 10 miles from main campus. The Farm mission is to enhance and complement the University's mission of education, research, and community services through its unique natural settings, historical and cultural features. The Farm also supports and enhances additional University community activities including athletics and recreational events.

As Farm Director, Dr. Locci manages the Farm operations, personnel, and finances. She also provides leadership in cooperation with the Farm Committee to expand utilization of the Farm's resources in accordance with the strategic plans of the University. As Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology, she teaches Principles of Ecology Lab (Biol 351-451) during fall and Quantitative Biology Lab (Biol 315-415) in spring.

Dr. Locci is the Coordinator and an Instructor of the Summer Ecology Course for High School and Middle School Teachers (Biol 802), sponsored by the Department of Biology and the Howard Hughes Out-Reached Community Program. Before becoming the Farm Director, Dr. Locci worked for ten years as Senior Researcher as computer modeler on the Lake Erie Ecological Modeling (LEEM) in the development of the Lake Erie Ecosystem Model, sponsored by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the International Joint Commission of the Great Lakes.
