The College for Women of Western Reserve University was established in 1888. In 1931, it was renamed Flora Stone Mather College in memory of the daughter of Cleveland philanthropist Amasa Stone. Mrs. Mather contributed her time and money generously to Western Reserve University.
The Alumnae Association of the College for Women (renamed Flora Stone Mather Alumnae Association) was established in 1894 and now represents almost 5,800 reachable alumnae that attended the college until its merger with Adelbert and Cleveland colleges in 1972.
The purpose of the Association is to increase the resources and advance the interests of Flora Stone Mather College alumnae and Case Western Reserve University; to render financial aid to worthy students enrolled in the University; and to further the educational interests of the alumnae.
The Association was instrumental in the establishment and founding of the Mather Gallery, the Flora Stone Mather Visiting Professorship, and numerous scholarships for undergraduate women.

The Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the sixth year of SWIMPY grants, the "Dream Grant", for
Senior Women in their Most Productive Years. The first three years were
more successful than we could have imagined. So far, over one hundred
of you, residing in some twenty states and two foreign countries, responded
to the call, sharing with the Committee your innermost hopes, and your
"impossible dreams". Your ideas confirmed what we have always known about
women: creativity increases as we grow older. We felt privileged to be
a part of your dreams. Visit the SWIMPY page
for information about the application process.
