University Time-Honored Traditions
Hudson Relay Race ~ Alumni Team Members Needed!
Come and run a leg in the longest "running" tradition of the University, Hudson Relays.
This fun 26-mile footrace commemorates Western Reserve College's 1882 move from Hudson, Ohio, to University Circle. It features student, faculty, and alumni teams. The first race was held in 1910 and was run from Western Reserve College in Hudson, OH, to the Adelbert Rocks behind Adelbert Hall. In 1990, due to safety and traffic concerns, the race changed to 26 miles around the campus and University Circle.
Alumni are encouraged to come and take part in the university's most venerable tradition by registering to run a leg of the race.
The Hudson Relay festivities begin on Friday, April 25, at 6 p.m. with a dinner for all participants. Event day, Saturday, April 26 starts at 8:30 a.m. with a pre-race breakfast followed by the relay race at 10:30 a.m.
Alumni are also encouraged to submit slogan proposals for the Alumni Team t-shirts!
The winning slogan for 2007 was,
"Slow, Steady, and Financially Secure"
Submissions should be sent to Kathleen Norman at kathleen.norman@case.edu. The deadline for slogan submission is March 27, 2008.
We look forward to seeing you at the finish line!
