ALUMNI HOUSE
Celebrating our past,
Embracing our future
Whether our diplomas are from Adelbert College, Flora Stone Mather College, Cleveland College, Western Reserve University, Case Institute of Technology or Case Western Reserve University, alumni share common bonds as part of a world-class university. It has been our goal in developing the Alumni House to create a home for alumni on campus that celebrates those common bonds.
Over the past year it has become clear that building the Alumni House at the site next to Thwing Center on Euclid Avenue was not going to be the best location for it, principally because of the Euclid Corridor Project. The project will narrow the street and the engineers were not going to permit a turn-around in front of the Alumni House. Now, we have found the perfect place on the campus to create a place where proud alumni will want to return--not just to visit but to advise, mentor, and learn.
After many years of planning, a site for the Alumni House has been selected. Our planning staff, in conjunction with Lara Kalafatis and Dan Clancy, LAW'62, in University Relations, explored a number of possible alternate sites for the Alumni House. After consulting with the Alumni Association of Case Western Reserve University, an existing house on Juniper Road has been identified as the site for the Alumni House.
Built in 1911, this brick house was purchased by Western Reserve University in 1953. It has been used for various university and private functions since then. It is located next to Arabica Coffee House, is two doors away from The Glidden House Hotel, and is close to residence halls, the home of our future alumni. This house will meet all of the programming functions set forth for the Alumni House, except for the Great Room. We are exploring ways of adding this function to the house in the near future.
The grand opening is scheduled for the 2007 Alumni Weekend and Homecoming celebration October 4-7; more information regarding the grand opening events will be forthcoming. Mark your calendars so that you can join us in this historic celebration.
For additional information about the Alumni House, please contact Daniel Clancy, LAW'62, at daniel.clancy@case.edu or 800.866.6280.
