CASE WESTERN RESERVE UNIVERSITY ANNOUNCES NEW PRESIDENT
Ohio State Provost Barbara Snyder to begin tenure July 1
The Case Western Reserve University Board of Trustees has in a unanimous vote elected Barbara R. Snyder as the next president and first woman to hold the office of president at Case Western Reserve University. Snyder, who currently serves as executive vice president and provost at The Ohio State University, will begin her tenure here on July 1, 2007. The president-elect began her career in higher education at Case Western Reserve University School of Law where she served as an assistant and associate professor.

The Grotian Moment: Saddam Hussein Trial Blog, the brainchild of Case School of Law professors Michael Scharf, director of the Frederick K. Cox International Law Center and Gregory McNeal, assistant director of the Institute for Global Security Law and Policy, has been nominated for "Best Law Blog" in the 2006 Weblog Awards, the world's largest blog competition. It is the only international law blog in the competition.

January 26: Martin Luther King, Jr. Convocation
The 2007 Martin Luther King, Jr. Convocation speaker is Ms. Joan Southgate, SAS'54. Ms. Southgate retraced the steps of Ohio's Underground Railroad. All alumni are invited to attend this public lecture at Amasa Stone Chapel on Friday, January 26, 2007 at 12:30 p.m. The lecture will be followed by a reception and a book signing.
