Alumni Spotlights:

Ellen VanCleave Klem, LAW'04 co-authored the American Bar Association Legal Guide for Americans Over 50: Everything about the law and Medicare and Medicaid, retirement rights, and long-term choices for yourself and your parents. Ellen VanCleave Klem is an attorney for the American Bar Association Commission on Law and Aging.

WHITE HOUSE PERSONNEL ANNOUNCEMENT: The President intends to nominate David Palmer, of Maryland, to be a Commissioner of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, for the remainder of a five year term expiring July 1, 2011. Mr. Palmer currently serves as Chief of the Employment Litigation Section of the Civil Rights Division at the Department of Justice. Prior to this, he served as Acting Special Litigation Counsel in the Office of Special Counsel for Immigration Related Unfair Employment Practices at the Department of Justice. Earlier in his career, he served as a Senior Trial Attorney in the Disability Rights Section of the Department of Justice. Mr. Palmer received his bachelor's degree from Columbia University and his JD from Case Western Reserve University.

Steven C. Anderson, a graduate of Case Western Reserve University, employed by Howard, Wershbale & Co. in Cleveland was one of 10 candidates earning the highest cumulative scores on the four section of the CPA exam, and receiving the Elijah Watt Sells Award. The award was created in 1923 to honor Sells, one of the country's first CPAs under the provision of a New York State law enacted in 1896 and a leader in advancing professional education. He was active in the establishment of the AICPA and was a founder of New York University's School of Commerce, Accounts and Finance.

All alumni are encouraged to attend the first annual all-alumni meeting of the Alumni Association of Case Western Reserve University. This special luncheon will feature a "State of the University" message by Interim President Gregory L. Eastwood, M.D., MED'66., and an update on the University's Master Plan by Margaret Carney, the University Architect.
