Board Chair Announces Presidential Search Committee, Seeks Community Input

Maria J. Thompson, MSASS'05, appointed community reinvestment act officer for National City northcoast region
National City has announced the appointment of Maria J. Thompson to vice president and regional Community Reinvestment Act officer for the Northcoast region. Thompson brings with her 16 years of experience. In her position, Thompson is responsible for serving as a liaison with neighborhood organizations and agencies and maintaining close working relationships with both internal and external audiences to help National City meet the credit and reinvestment needs of local communities.

Anthony Mortimer, GRS'71, has been named Emeritus Professor at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland
Mortimer retired from the Chair of English Literature which he held for rwenty-eight years. For much of that time he also taught a seminar at the University of Geneva. In 1994-95 he was Visiting Research Fellow at Merton College, Oxford.  Professor Mortimer has published widely on Shakespeare and on Renaissance poetry. His translations of Petrarch (begun as a graduate student at CWRU) have been published by Penguin Classics. His translations of Michelangelo's poetry are forthcoming in the same series. His wife Maya, a printmaker during her time in Cleveland, now holds a doctorate in Japanese Studies She publishes regularly and has taught at the universities of Fribourg and Zürich. They live in Geneva.
