Who is eligible to use the house?
Case Western Reserve alumni, student organizations, staff or faculty may rent the house. Please e-mail alumnihouse@cwru.edu for inquiries or reservations.
How much does it cost to use the house?
The rental fee for the house varies with every unique event, depending on the space(s) used. See The Alumni House homepage for additional information.
When is the Alumni House open?
The house is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 pm., except for university holidays. It may be reserved after hours for events.
When was the house built?
Built in 1911 by the Chamberlain family, this brick house was purchased by Western Reserve University in 1953. It has been used for various university and private functions since then, most notably as the design studio for the Department of Architecture until its dissolution in 1972. Read the history.
How much did it cost to renovate the house?
The cost to renovate the house was $2.2 million dollars. Noteable renovations included an elevator, complete historical restorations, and dozens of features contributing to the university's misson for sustainability.
Can we park at the house?
Yes. There is limited free parking along the east side of The Alumni House.
