A. Organizations 1. National Institutes of Health The National Institutes of Health [http://www.nih.gov/
] contains a variety of programs related to tuberculosis research. Most
programs lie within the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious
Diseases [NIAID] http://www.niaid.nih.gov/. The National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/ also supports tuberculosis
research. Within the NIAID, there are two divisions supporting
tuberculosis research. These are the Division of Microbiology
and Infectious Diseases and the Division of AIDS. Publications

There are two divisions within the IUATLD with a focus on
TB.
The Tuberculosis Division: The site for this division is found at http://www.tbrieder.org/ contains information for the health professional and researchers on the clinical, bacteriological, epidemiology, and control of TB. This site features detailed slides that can be downloaded as well as access to several full length IUATLD publications .The TB-HIV Division: The site for this division is found under "Lung Health" at http://www.theunion.org/. This site contains some statistics on this topic as well as information on related meetings, symposia, and courses. 5. Stop TB Stop TB is a global movement of more than 400 groups organized
to accelerate social and political action to stop the unnecessary spread
of tuberculosis around the world. The site describes the activities
of several working groups dedicated to the development and use of new
diagnostics, drugs, and vaccines to control tuberculosis.
Activities of other working groups, focused on DOTS implementation
and other social actions are also included. international, educational and scientific society which focuses on respiratory
and critical care medicine. ATS was once called the American Sanatorium
Association. It maintains a focus on medical aspects of tuberculosis,
whereas the parent organization, American Lung Association, concentrates
