Welcome!

The ID Alliance at CWRU works to link the Division of Infectious Diseases to the greater Cleveland Community. Through grants, we have been able to design and implement programs and research projects which provide a better understanding of infectious disease needs locally.

This site is full of resources, many of which were carefully selected for some of our strongest supporters: community members, CWRU colleagues, parents, and teens. Use the links to the left as you browse around, and feel free to leave us a question or comment. Thanks for visiting!

First Community Presentation

Peer EducatorsOn Tuesday, October 16th, our Peer Educators (PEs) put on their first community presentation at the East End Neighborhood House. PEs presented to a group of twenty-five students for a two hour session. The session was planned and co-facilitated by PEs. Students were encouraged to explore their values and beliefs related to sexual health. An open forum was held to discuss STI facts and dispel common myths. PEs wrapped-up the session with two breakout groups, and talked to teens about contraceptives, abstinence, and common issues that teens face. We are very proud of our PEs and can say that the presentation was a great success!

Testimonial: "The presentation, ice breaker, and activity was very informative for our young people because this type of information is not talked about in the school and in most cases in the home. Furthermore, I was really impressed with the confidence and clarity of the peer educators in speaking on such a "touchy" subject . The group, staff and parents enjoyed the group all the way around."

Peer Educators - On the Move!

Peer EducatorsOur Peer Educators are on the move! These young leaders have been spreading the news about the ID Alliance and STI prevention throughout the city. They set up tables at community events, including the Glenville High open house (pictured), and create their own educational materials to distribute. If your organization would like a visit from the ID Alliance Peer Educators, contact us at IDAlliance@case.edu. We can tailor a program to your group. Peer Educators are available to do presentations, roundtable discussions, and interactive activities, all focused on providing education regarding infection prevention.
