Built in 1838 by settler John Honam, a weaver from Scotland, Lakewood's
oldest Stone House Museum has been preserved as a typical early period
home by the Lakewood Historical Society. It served as a residence on Detroit
Avenue from 1838 until 1870. It remained there for the next 82 years.
At various times, it was a post office, shoe repair shop, grocery, doctor's
office, upholsterer's store and barbershop. In 1952 the building was moved
to its present location in Lakewood Park. There it was opened as a museum
representing Lakewood's proud heritage. National Register listing.
