Current area of Research:
Dr. Reena Mehra’s research interests involve exploring
the role of oxidative stress modulating the pathophysiologic
relationship between sleep-disordered breathing and cardiovascular
disease, and ultimately assessing this relationship via a translational
epidemiologic perspective. Of additional interest are the effects
of alcohol use and abuse in the setting of sleep disorders and
cardiac arrhythmias in elderly men.
Sleep Clinic Program at
UHCMC:
The Sleep Disorders Program at UHC involves the Sleep Disorders
Clinic in the Respiratory Diagnostic Center which focuses on
the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders which includes
but is not limited to the following: obstructive sleep apnea
syndrome, narcolepsy, insomnia, restless legs syndrome/periodic
limb movement disorder, inadequate sleep hygiene, insufficient
sleep syndrome, and circadian rhythm disorders. The goal is
to establish a multidisciplinary approach to sleep disorders,
and to establish a family sleep clinic for both adults and children.
Dr. Mehra is completely dedicated and intensely enthusiastic
about providing quality care for and treatment of her patients.
